Community Fridge

Helping with the Community Fridge

The Ringwood Community Fridge and Freezer opened in May 2021 and has already saved over 97 tonnes of food. Located in Ringwood Library and run entirely by volunteers the fridge is available to everyone, we have around 30 people a day using the fridge.

The whole idea is just to save food from going to waste.

We are also extremely grateful to COMAX for supplying all our cleaning products free of charge.

The Community Fridge is a space where we can share surplus food that is still good to eat but which would otherwise be thrown away and wasted. The food is donated by local food businesses, including supermarkets such as Ringwood Sainsburys, Waitrose, LIDLs and Tesco Poulner plus other shops, producers, households, gardens, and allotments.

The Fridge is available when the library is open and volunteers also open it on a Sunday  – current opening times are:

  • Sundays: 4.45 – 5.45 pm
  • Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays: 9.30 am – 5 pm
  • Saturdays: 9.30 – 1.30 pm
