The Ringwood Community Fridge and Freezer opened in May 2021 and has already saved over 45 tonnes of food. Located in Ringwood Library and run entirely by volunteers the fridge is available to everyone. The whole idea is just to save food from going to waste.
What is a Community Fridge? It is a space where we can share surplus food that is still good to eat but which would otherwise be thrown away and wasted. The food is donated by local food businesses, including supermarkets such as Ringwood Sainsbury’s and Waitrose and other shops, producers, households, gardens, and allotments.
